Saint Mark’s College is a K-12 co-educational college, operating within all requirements outlined by federal (DEEWR) and state (NESA) authorities. Saint Mark’s was initially established in 1996 at rented premises in Lidcombe and moved to our current Wattle Grove site in 1999.
Saint Mark’s College is proud of its Coptic Orthodox heritage and this ethos exists in all areas throughout our school. Our faith is the cornerstone of our College community.
Our school population consists predominately of Coptic Orthodox students, however St Mark’s College is welcoming of students and their families from all backgrounds and cultures, currently boasting a current school population consisting of 21 different denominations. Increased interest from non-Coptic families who value the strong Christian ethos of the College currently attend from across 48 Sydney suburbs. The strong family feel of the College, the evident dedication and commitment of its professional staff, the particularly strong academic results achieved year after year are all elements that attract families wishing to enrol their children in a school that values education with both an academic and pastoral focus.

Our history with St Mark’s Coptic Orthodox College started in 2009 when our first born Joshua started in kindergarten. When researching schools in the near area (West Hoxton) we were recommended by family, friends and neighbours who attended or were attending the college (Wattle Grove) and only had positive reviews about the culture, support, academic progress and most of all the Christian values that echo through the school from staff, students and clergy alike. We now have been blessed to further enrol our daughter Naomi and son Lucas who both started with the college since kindergarten and God willing will graduate through St Mark’s College educational programme. Our children have blossomed in all aspects of their lives as the curriculum encourages independence, core Christian values, sportsmanship and a very high standard of academic learning. My eldest son started school this year in Kindergarten. For any parent it is an exciting but equally nervous time. From the outset, St Marks College made me feel comfortable and reassured that my son was in good caring hands. I was especially impressed by the environment - the children are always happy, the teachers are professional and caring, the academic standard is exceptional and the priest presence adds a sweet touch of spirituality. I could not ask for anything more. Thank you for all your hard work; it does not go unnoticed.
The time I spent at St Mark's was by far the best time in my life and if I could, I would go back for sure! I loved everything about St Mark's but the best thing about it is the community and spirit. From visiting other schools, hearing from students from other schools and studying at a few schools before St Mark's, I can say without a doubt that St Mark's gave me the best school experience, and I wouldn't have enjoyed school as much as I did if I had been to another school. I loved the way the teachers genuinely cared about us and as we got older they became more of our friends than just educators. They did more than just teach us, they supported us, constantly gave us advice, use their lunch breaks to us out when we needed extra help and even organised before and after school classes to help us catch up. I love the ethics and morals the school promoted. It was a very healthy,protective environment where we were not exposed to violence,swearing or any socially unacceptable behaviours. I also loved my grade and made friends with everyone. The small size of the school I think makes it the best because it keeps the community close and you get to know everyone. My friends and I regularly discuss how we wish to go back to school. I will definitely be sending my kids there in the future.
There are so many wonderful things to say about SMC. It is so much more than an ordinary school. I have three children , both my eldest son and daughter attended all their schooling from K-12 at SMC and graduated in 2013 and 2015 . My youngest son has also been at SMC since kindergarten and is currently about to commence year 11. I have been part of SMC since 2001 and have watched a school community that never stops striving for excellence in every way. SMC is a community of caring students, teachers, and parents. Beyond the core education and ethics that children receive at SMC is the environment where this is achieved. Classes are small and the education is personal. The teachers know their students and can tailor their efforts to individual student needs. SMC provides a high quality, faith-based education in a family-type environment, successfully preparing students for their future education, growth and development. I cannot imagine them to be any happier anywhere else!
St Mark's College has had the biggest impact on my kids. What really stands out is the Christian environment with the right moral values and having like minded friends. These have been an anchor in the middle of turbulent times with changing standards of morality around the world. I highly recommend the College to anyone that is looking for a good Christian school.
Since Daniel Joined St.Mark school. He has been given opportunities to grow, learn and become independent young man. He learnt skills and knowledge that will help them enter into the next stage of his life with confidence, high moral standards and strong sense of community. The religious education in the school is outstanding and is manifest in the children’s behaviour, manners, and the respect shown for everyone. While the academic program is highly rigorous and requires a tremendous amount of discipline, the school also has an exceptional emphasis on Art, Language, and Music.
